I was not pleased with my initial throw it together and go fishing at Ranch Seco last week but at least it told me what gear I had for the Tarpon would not be compatible with the Hobie.

So I got some RAM gear mounts delivered Fedex last night, routed the power and transducer wires though the kayaks through hull mounts, rigged up the rod holder and went for a test fish.  Took a while to overcome installer errors :banghead:
but I finally got the sonar signal working and the Fishfinder and the rod holder into the right place...too bad I didn't get more than 30 minutes of actual fishing time after dealing with my screw ups but at least the rod is out of the way of the pedals and I can actually see the Lowrance screen

Got the waterproof battery box installed and the wires into conduit.  $10  box from wally world, some goop, xtra closed cell foam I had laying around.  I added in 4' of wire to the Lowarance power wires to reach the forward  storage area of the revo (only place where I can open the box to remove the battery).  All the connections are shrink wrapped and where I drilled the wire access to the batter box I sealed it with non leveling Dicor sealant

so bsed on a transponder recomendation from  FishingForTheCure I upgraded to this HDI Skimmer Transducer 000-10976-001 from lowrance, its 83/200 & 455/800.  I nstalled it last night on my 2015 Revo 13.

Set it up like this on the Hobie Hull Plate

Then the fun began.  I have a +4 ape index (6' tall 6'4"armspan and I can just reach that stupid through hull fitting behind the seat and unscrewed it to thread the sonar cable into the hull from the scupper hole.  The fitting at the end of the sonar cable just squeezes through the  hull hole and the screw fitting.  I tried for a while to rethread the plug back into tplace then said the heck with it and used Goops to seal the plug into place

When I went to run the sonar cable up though the port in front of the seat I realized that there was no way to fit the power wires and the sonar fitting though a single port it was going to be a two port affair.  Not wanting to drill another large hole in the hull next to the other one I otped to use the port on the right hand mesh pocket and run the cable across the deck in front of the hatch and goof it to the deck lip that runs behind the drive well

it came out fairly clean I will see how it works on Saturday

Why the upgrade for the transducer.  I am going to have to go down this road soon.  I have only used hummingbirds recently but have been looking at other brands.  I looked up this transducer and it says it works with elite 7 and HDS Gen 2.  Does it fit your model out of box.  Trying to educate myself on why this is a better option than a standard transducer.

I scored a and elite 4x ice machine with a battery, charger and a Ice transducer( which was not really all that functional for a kayak at a dirt cheap price).  It was time to get a full function transducer to utilize the downscan and have water temp function.  West Marine had the Transducer on a web sale so I snagged it at FFTC's model recomendation

It mates right up to my unit with no mods

Ok.  Wasn't sure when it said it works with the elite 7 I thought there were functions you couldn't get unless you had the matching fish finder for that transducer.  Definitely let us know how it works in the water.
