This is our 5th annual Camp Arbuckle/ Nor Cal Road Trip. Every year my Mom, Dad Brother and I host a weekend road trip in far Nor Cal. My Mom and Dad open up their property in the woods near Mt Lassen to campers and RV'ers and we 3 days of paddling around the North State. My Brother meanwhile mans his giant BBQ and Smoker, cooking up fresh Veggies, Tri Tip, Ribs, and chicken. We always invite people to share a side dish. This isn't a kayak fishing only event, but every year lots of people fish and hang out. Brian from the Headwaters Redding store will be fishing each day I'm sure. Everything is free and open to the club, we just ask you call ahead and let us know your coming up. If we get enough people than we will set the overflow campers up down the street at the Lake McCmomber Camp Ground, which is a stones throw away from an awesome PG&E lake with tons of fishing.

We'll kick off the 3 days of fun with a local paddle on Whiskeytown Lake National Recreation Area, at Oak Bottom Boat Launch, 11AM allowing time for participants to arrive from out of town.

For those with river skills, you can also paddle Friday afternoon from the Posse Grounds on the Sacramento River, we'll arrange a shuttle.  We'll need a specific count for this river portion to set up the shuttle, phone RSVP Terri @ 530223-2411 or 530-351-4573.

We will cap off the day with a Bar-B- Q showing off the new Headwaters Adventure Shop, 930 Merchant St., Reddingstarting at 6PM and gather to head out to the Arbuckle's home, a.k.a. "Camp Arbuckle" in Shingletown.

Saturday we'll head to Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park, we encourage carpooling. Launching from the PG&E Dredge ramp at 10AM.  Bring your hiking shoes, after touring around the lake, we'll paddle to the Ja She Creek campground and hike the area and have lunch.

Saturday Evening we'll return to "Camp Arbuckle" for a Bar-B-Q; Ribs, Chicken, Tri-Tip and Grilled Veggies and campfire stories!

Sunday morning campers and guest will be treated to a Dutch Oven “Paddlers Breakfast” before leaving for Keswick Lake on the Sacramento below Lake Shasta. Here we’ll have the opportunity to experience wildlife along the shores just outside Redding. This will give everyone the opportunity to jump on Interstate 5 for the trip back home

Those who prefer the excitement of swift water, Dan from the Lodi “Headwaters Kayak Shop” will be leading a swift water paddle on Sacramento from Posse Grounds near Turtle Bay to Anderson River Park, in Anderson.  We’ll meet 10AM at the Anderson River Park to work out the shuttle back to Posse Grounds in Redding.  This is a swift water river paddle; river is running @ 12,000 cfs

Weekend Camping available @ Camp Arbuckle, 10460 Ritts Mill Road, Shingletown call Terri @ 530-223-2411 or 530-351-4573 for camping details, there is also a beautiful KOA with camping cabins nearby and overflow camping available at the Lake McCumber PG&E campground within a mile of Camp Arbuckle.

Sounds awesome!  Every Arbuckle I have ever met has been kind and generous, this event should be a blast.

Good stuff Dan, I'll make an appearance somewhere in the mix, so many options for getting on great water!
