Hi all,

I'm looking for a butcher source in the bay area or monterey area. I used to go to one in Livermore but they had to close due to increasing government regulations making it too expensive for then to replace their equipment.

I am mostly looking for non-standard meats or cuts. Stuff not generally found in stores. Turkey necks would be great, but chicken necks, and other meaty bone (non-weight bearing bones so no deer legs etc).

I just need cheap raw meaty bones to feed my dogs. Pet store stuff is pointlessly expensive.

I already know of the SF Raw food group but the time commitment required for being part of the group is something I can't deal with.

Thanks

I see turkey necks sold at Lucky supermarkets. You can usually find turkey and chicken necks and other non-standard cuts in Asian supermarkets. Don't give your dog cooked bones.

Thanks Howard. Yeah this is just raw food not cooking it. My dogs teeth are having issues and their teeth were perfect when I fed them a full prey model raw food diet. So I'd like to supplement their food with some uncooked meaty bones to help their teeth.

Thanks I'll look into those!

What about oxtail at the Asian market? I'd be tempted to eat it for myself lol

Oxtails are expensive, they are people food.  Braised oxtail soup is too delicious.  I know of a butcher shop called little Italy on Vallejo street.  They maybe can help.  You can slow cook those bones for long hours.  Then using a food processor  to form a paste. Freeze them and pop them out when you wanna feed the dogs.  Add carrots and pea for extra vitamins.  No salt though, bad for the dogs.  It's actually pretty tasty I tried eating before.

Do you mean Little City?  Green at vallejo and columbus.  Great family run shop for generations.

Kinda like Hojo said, I'd check 99 ranch in dublin.  They probably have the chicken/turkey neck bones you want for a pretty reasonable price.

+1 on Freedom Meat Lockers or Corrolitos.

Or just go out to Andy's house & we will round up some live chickens & make our own neck bones on the spot!
