I keep maybe 10% at most of the fish I catch in the ocean, and I catch a lot of fish out there. I am there to catch fish and have fun. It is not always about keeping the fish. I would love to get something like that, and let it go. I have let plenty of 35" ling, 20-23" rockfish, and even have released 30"+ salmon. I am not in it for the kill.

I only catch fish about 10% of the time so I can keep 100% then!

"Kayaker" is a pretty loose term when your tethered to a pier and your friend is filming you fishing from it.  He did scream like a girl though! 

His paddle wasn't tethered either.  On GMA, they said he released it.  He did scream like a girl.

I agree Al. He did scream like a girl and those grouper tend to give up real fast because they are so big. Imagine if they had the tenacity of a bluegill with that size. Even tethered he would have been toast

Giant groupers are a protected species.  You can't even take them out of the water for a picture.

High likely hood the fish later died from the experience.
