Hello everyone! I'm Johnny from San Francisco.

I was referred to NCKA by two members (Bob Pham/Fahrenheit840 and Sebastian Kamyshenko) thanks guys! I met them while attending a kayaking class (California Canoe and Kayak Level 2 Kayak Fishing class) in Half Moon Bay.

After a bad start to the year (health-wise), I turned to fishing to get myself out of the house and get my mind off things. I always loved fishing with my dad as a kid living in Norway in the late 80's so i figured why not get back to doing what i used to love. Although I'm happy and super excited to be fishing again after 25 years, i couldn't help but feel "limited" fishing from the shore...that's how i ended up finding out about the amazing world of kayak fishing!

I don't have my own kayak yet but I've been paddling twice a week in San Francisco Bay through City Kayak (South Beach Harbor/Pier40). I purchased a 3-month membership from them for $150...I get to take any of their yaks out 5 days a week if I want and it comes with paddle, pfd, dry bag, etc, and discounts on all their tours and classes. Not bad. It allows me to get yak experience on different types/size kayaks, get lessons, apply and practice what I learned.

So far I've been on the water five times, the first was a beginner kayaking class in Oakland through CalCanoe&Kayak, second was the lvl2 kayak fishing class in Half Moon Bay also through CCK, then an into class at City Kayak, and two sessions on my own paddling from pier 40 to downtown SF, under the Bay Bridge and to McCovey Cove by AT&T Park.

My current goal is to become a proficient kayaker and through knowledge and info from all of you here in NCKA I'll be able to tie fishing and kayaking together and become a kayak angler like you all.

I would love to hear from you and I welcome any comments/suggestions/recommendations. I can't wait to fish and paddle with you all in the near future. I look forward to learning from everyone here and meet as many of you kayak anglers in waters all over the world! Thank you!

Welcome to the madness. You are on the right path. If your membership expires or you want to try kayak with gadget like fish finder. You are welcome to try my Trident 13. I'm from San Francisco as well.

Welcome!

And props to you for taking those classes rather than just diving right in!
