Bay Area trout
Most Bay Area lakes are open year-round to trout fishing, and six in the East Bay hills have been stocked multiple times with rainbow trout this month.
Trout plants are highest when water temperatures are cool from late winter through spring, and often peak this week for the traditional statewide opening day.
For this weekend, lake managers have stocked Del Valle, San Pablo, Los Vaqueros, Chabot, Shadow Cliffs and Lafayette. Del Valle alone has received 7,600 pounds of trout this month and will be featured in The Chronicle’s Sunday Drive Getaway.
The East Bay Regional Park District and concessionaires use money from daily fishing permits to purchase rainbow trout and create viable programs for anglers at these lakes.

For those East Bay lakes (EB Parks), go to angler's edge online:

Check just under the trout skirts.  (Hint, they are under pants!)
