This attached link came across my desk the other day. It appears to be a fairly comprehensive overview of the drought situation, how, why, who uses what etc. Its a fairly long read but provides a lot of good information.
There is one point that keeps coming up and that is that ag uses 80 % etc and this article uses that figure. I have been in discussions that indicate the water use is closer to 50%, i will try to provide information on that number soon
Cheers to you all  :smt006

When the lakes and rivers are full the trout will walk the earth.

Of course I am praying for rain, but I have become very good at hunting waterfowl in drought years. I am prepared for a banner year this year if drougjt continues through the rest of the year. Silver lining in the proverbial storm cloud.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

I recently heard on NPR those two figures and at one point one of the commenters clarified that 80% water use by ag is the % of usable water by people.  The 50% is total water usage by ag.  I don't remember the name of the person who said it, so no assurances of accuracy.
