Looking to put satellite tv (Dish or DirectTV) in the RV and was wondering if what people are using or favor more? Looking to watch the upcoming Pacio fight while camping...

And maybe, if anyone has any extra equipment (antenna, receiver, etc) that they aren't using anymore, that they might want to unload, trade or donate :smt003....

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I recently just tossed a brand new (old) receiver and a Dish antenna.

I have dish at home and when we travel we grab the DVR (hopper) and joeys (room receivers) and bring them with us.  We have an old dish and the needed splitter we use on the rv.  This way we don't need a second account.

Depending on which service you go with find a local service guy and buy equipment off the truck.  I found a dish guy at McDonald's and told him I was setting up my rv with dish.  I said I know you can't sell stuff off the truck but I offered to buy him lunch for some wire and the splitter.  Cost me $10 for 50' of double coax which is needed for the Highdef satellite.  He had old dishes in the truck he would have gave me but I already took the dish from my old house before I left.  The manual dish can be annoying to setup but once you learn where to point it you can do it relatively easy.  But if you have extra cash I would get an auto dish that tracks satellites automatically and can be used with either vendor.  Worth it if you travel a lot and you can get a separate receiver and account and turn it off during off season.

How about streaming?  I think you can stream it from Comcast if there's cell service where you are.  I have tethered my tablet to my cell phone and streamed music but haven't tried live video.

That's only if you have a strong wifi signal or 46 Cellular service. I have Slingbox and can sling anything off my cable box, but it requires a strong signal.

With satellite, you just point the antennae up, find the satellite and youre good to go!

Glen; Jed will be bringing to you, along with the VuCube a Dish receiver, remotes, manuals and 100 ft. coax cable. I think Dish, will require you to register the box and activate the SIM card, there may be a setup fee and for sure a monthly service bill. I believe at first will need to have the Dish box connected to your home phone line. After you're set up you should not need any phone connection, during your travels. If you also want to use Dish at your home I have extra Dish antennas. Let me know and I will get one to you. Good luck.   dave...

Okay.... Back to Square two (square one was get the dish); looks like the Dish Receiver was phased out and they can't activate it, so I am still looking for a newer/current receiver if anybody has one.....
