Hey guys long time no post!  :smt011 Just thought I would see if any one is familiar with the Fenwick HMG Graphite GFS 55 and G145. I inherited them from my great uncle and had some rigging questions. I am assuming they are ultra light spinning rods but have never seen a reel seat on the cork itself ? Wondering what you guys think I should stick on the rods as I will take them back packing with me to fish for cutthroat and redbands etc. Also how secure is it using the cork and rings? I used to tightening threaded rings not these slip ones.

The  reel seat should work fine. It's an ultralight spinning rod so your hand keeps the reel from moving. HMG is a second generation graphite I believe. I owned a few. They are good rods and pretty durable but not the greatest casting rods. If you can find some old Fenwick glass rods, those were great rods.

When you put the reel on the rod and slip the rings over the reel foot.the pressure will hold it on the rod.they do loosen a little with use but you can just push them together.I use to use black electrical tape back in the days.but itll stain the cork.any 500 size reel from shimano or similar size reel will be perfect for that rod

I have a Gloomis rod with same style reel seat and I use shrink tube to secure it.
