As of yesterday (3/29/2015) the launch ramp at Coast Guard Wharf was CLOSED OFF due to the seal population ... they were absolutely COVERING the entire ramp area and all docks there despite the wooden boards they put up to block it off.  I found several of their "wooden barricades" floating in different parts of the harbor yesterday near the CG launch AND the main wharf near the party boat landing at the end of the wharf.

If you plan is to launch at C.G. on salmon opener, be sure to check the 'Open/Closed' status ahead of time.

Wow sounds like a seal zombie apocalypse! Might have to bring a shotgun to the rockfish opener :smt003

The amount of seals in the harbor was CRAZY on Sunday.  Pods of them EVERYWHERE!  The rock jetty was covered in the fur bags & I was downwind of it almost all day. :smt010

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Anyone out there have any plans or designs for a traditional sealskin kayak?  I know the local seals and sealions wouldn't make as pretty of kayak as baby harp seals, but I like to "shop" local.

went down there and it is COVERED in seals, they look much better sun bathing than they do steeling my fish :smt012
Give a man a fish and he'll eat a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit on the water all day with a stick in his hand and no fish.
