Hmmmm......: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2015/03/16/hundreds-starving-sea-lion-pups-stranding-on-california-beaches-rescue-centers/

I admit I have mixed emotions on this one.

On one hand I hate the fish thieving bastards but... I know they play a vital part in our ecosystem.

I wonder if they will bring sharks closer to the fishing grounds?  According to this: http://sharkresearchcommittee.com/pacific_coast_shark_news.htm  Shark activity seems high.

(and yes, sharks make me pretty damn nervous :) )

I was fishing at Crissy Field on Saturday night and came across a scrawny pup alone on the beach. It looked pretty exhausted. Felt sorry for the little guy, but nothing to do about it. Definitely something awry in the system right now...
Thanks fish!

Over population for many years now. Just a correction? Not endangered animals. Well fed sharks. Not seeing a problem here :smt004
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

To see any animal suffering and dying of malnutrition is sad.

One can only imagine that it'd get worse as the salmon populations drop from the drought.

Circle of life stuff. Take home and feed is not an option :smt044 might seem a bit calus but, starving seagulls and buzzards depend onthis yearly food source. A normal yearly event gets a write up in the news and it's suddenly a crisis... surfing as a kid we saw dead or dieing pups all the time. Expecially when white shark activity was high. Saving them all could upset natures plan for culling the herd. Deer and other populations go threw same thing.

Exactly why what we really need is humans to go through one of these extreme " natural occurrences" quit sucking up all earths goodness. There's nothing " natural" about fish hatcheries.

More white sharks= less seals in the water= more bait in the water. Yup. That's it. :smt005
