Recently one of our own, our good friend Paul Lebowitz lost his son very suddenly to a brain aneurism. Through a very tough time the Lebowitz family made a courageous decision to donate their son James’s organs, in hopes of helping others. To this point five lives have been saved and many more people helped. In order to keep their sons name alive they have started a scholarship fund at Cal Poly Pomona, the school he was attending when he passed.
Thanks to the support of some of our friends and sponsors we have put together an amazing kayak fishing package that is now up for Auction on Ebay, with all funds going to the scholarship fund. Please read about this great package below and if in the market for a new fishing kayak please consider bidding on it.
Please follow this link to the full story and link to the Auction. If you know anyone looking for a fully rigged Kraken kayak please point them to this page.

Thanks for the help spreading the word.
This is the actual kayak you will be bidding on.

In case you missed it and it comes up. The Auction is listed for local pick up only. But shipping is in fact available for a separate fee which will be handled by OEX kayaks. This is a ten day auction so lots of time to let everyone know. We are already at $3150.00 pretty excited how this is going already. Thanks again everyone for sharing the word and thanks Jackson Kayak, OEX and our other sponsors for helping make this happen.

I bid way back when it was at $400.00 Wish I could do more than bump the $$$ up. Sweet kayak and good mojo on the purchase. Hope it goes sky high!!!
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Thanks Jim,
I know James' heartbreaking passing effected NCKA'ers as did the touching actions of his family in the days since. The tricked out Jackson is truly one of a kind. It has obviously been a project born of respect and sustained with love.

Going, going... The Ebay benefit auction for the amazing custom Jackson Kraken ends today at 6 pm Pacific. Will there be a last minute bid flurry, or will the current $3,459 take it? All net proceeds (Ebay takes a bite) will go towards the James Lebowitz Memorial Cal Poly Pomona University scholarship fund. Someone's getting a ride full of fish karma. Check it out and bid here: and Spread the word

This is the actual kayak all rigged and ready to go.

Cool fundraiser. It's a great cause and this community of outdoors people are truly amazing in their generosity.
Wish it would have been a raffle so I could participate. Just curious. Why not a raffle? 100 people at $50 a pop or something seems like it would raise more money. Eh; but what do I know?
Thanks to this forum for getting the word out.

We considered doing a raffle, but the legalities of doing an online raffle are a bit touchy. Also by just doing the online auction through Ebay, which of course it what they are set up for, removes any questions of honesty.
