Welcome!  Headwaters Kayak Shop in Lodi is having  a spring  swap meet Saturday,  March 14 at 10am.  Maybe you'll/anyone will get lucky at a kayak/gear.

I agree with all those that recommend trying them out first. I rented an old town predator 13 several times before I started to seriously look for a yak. When I knew I was ready I started out looking at used/demo boats first. The reason was that for a first yak I was going to probably bang it around a lot. Also you can get a great deal from shops with lots of demos. I purchased a Jackson Cuda 14 from a shop in Mission bay and it was delivered to my door in less then a week.
