What Shotgun Capacity for Big Game, Turkeys and Waterfowl?

Question: When hunting black bears, pigs, turkeys and waterfowl, what shotgun capacity can I use? (Daniel K.)

Answer: Shotguns capable of holding not more than three shells may be used to take all of the species you mention. For more information, please see sections 311 and 353 in the Hunting Regulations book or look online at http://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Regulations.

On a side note, many states are running snow goose depredation hunts this month. Some, do not have a "plug" requirement and you may use unlimited number of shells in your gun! My brother is leaving to go hunt Nebraska next week, and bought a tube magazine extender, he will be rocking 9 shells at a time! Personally, three is plenty. If I could hold five as my gun can without the plug, on hot days where the birds are falling into your lap, you are done in no time. I prefer to spread out and take one or two on each wave of birds.

I need 9 shots per bird.

My personal best was 3 birds with one shot as a grind came down directly on top of me. 

My best is a double a few times. Cody got three teal in one last year. My dad got 5 chukar in one! He ground pounded a flock at a puddle, then asked what was so hard about chukar hunting! 

I once killed two chipmunks with one pine cone. It was an accident, I swear.
