Nor Cal HOW & Headwaters Give tribute to The Troops…. 6/6/15

Was a pleasure to serve those that have given so much in my place so that I can have what I have.... FREEDOM

What a lovely time, I'm glad we could make it and say thanks to a few vets before the heat drove everyone away.  Thanks for all the hard work to everyone who showed up and make these events happen.

Thanks to everyone that made it happen for our Warriors and families. Its great to be a small part of this great group. HOW !!!! John

Hey the Sentinel Newspaper in Lodi came through with a story…

they got our fund raising wrong, but the $8k plus is what Headwaters has done for Nor Cal HOW over the last year…

There's not much I can add to what's already been said.  Awesome participants and awesome event!  It's my privilege to help out.

I take a break between breakfast, handing out rods and worms and the lunch shift and it's caught on film??!!


It was a great day and awesome to see so many step up to do what needed to be done.  At lunch, it was obvious that we would have to either serve the dishes or the line would back up.  Next thing you know, there's a crew with serving utensils and plastic gloves getting the line to move at a quick pace.  I had fun handing out the plates, forks and napkins and meeting these fine vets, their families and our volunteers.  I think I got a chance to talk to almost all of them.   

I had to split shortly after, as I had a plane to catch to Idaho later that afternoon.  A charming lady vet was able to use my camp chair (same one in the photo above) and it was pretty clear to me she had a greater need for it than me so I left it.  Raydon picked it up later and for that I say thanks buddy!! 

Also met up again with a guy I met out at Lodi Lake a month or so ago.  I had told him about NCKA and I guess he found it, because he showed up for his first NCKA event as a volunteer for Lodi HOW.  Great to see you again Yakme!!  Welcome to the madness!

Now I gotta post up a PM to get my coffee mug back....

 I was just jealous, everyone there worked their butt off,

  next events will be much smaller and lot more about fishing …

  but it's a nice to do this once or twice a year…

  I still have not heard from the two vet agencies that flaked. I just don't know how ya confirm with some thing with that kind of numbers, ( 80 plus ),

then flake,  what did the 80 participants who thought they were going kayak fishing, do that day when the agencies confirmed the day before?
