A few weeks ago I saw an add on craigslist for a yak/trailer combo. I sent an e-mail saying I was interested in the Hobie Oasis the guy was selling, but as I live in San Francisco without a garage, have nowhere to put a trailer, and if he found someone that wanted the trailer I would happily buy the kayak.

That was before talking to Amber (the boss) about spending a whole lot of money on a kayak, and as expected the guys said he wanted to sell them together, but would let me know if something worked out.

I then forgot about the kayak, assuming that it was going to be a dead end craigslist experience ( I have driven to SanDiego for a surfboard only to show up and have a guy said he didnt think I was gonna show up so he sold it the morning before i got there)

Then two weeks ago the guy sent me an email that said that he talked to His Boss, and wanted to sell it to me for a STEAL!!!

While reading the e-mail my heart rate elevated significantly, and I almost did not believe what I was reading, so I played it cool till I got off work, called him up, and told him I was still interested and could make the drive up to Chico to pick up the boat in a week and a half.

I still had not talked to the boss about it, so I mentioned it to her, and she did not shoot it down right away, which was a good sign, and then said," If you want us to get a new kayak, I need you to sell me on it".

I put together some quick slides showing the specs of the malibu two (old boat) and the hobie oasis (possible new boat). Made my point, and was shocked to hear " Ok, how are we going to pay for it?"

After selling our faithful malibu, surfboards, a bike and an extra long traffic filled drive to Chico, we are now the proud owners of a beautiful yellow 2012 Hobie Oasis!!!!!

We took it for a spin in the bay this afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised by the ride.

Looking forward to getting it bloody!!!!

Aloha,

Isao

Sweet!  I live up here in the Chico area and saw that CL ad.  I'm glad somebody got it.  It looked like a nice boat and trailer and had been taken good care of.  The ad had been posted for awhile.  I would have jumped on it myself if it weren't for bad timing.

Just curious, what did they end up doing with the trailer?

Bret

Bret, it seemed like they didnt have a buyer for the trailer yet. lmk if you are interested and i can connect you.

Eelkram, the kayak came with the sail kit, so we will be getting to experience a taste of what the AI has to offer and who knows.......
