Hi Everyone,

I would just like to start by saying thank you. You all have helped me a lot figure out what kayak I want and have been very helpful. I just need one more thing. I think I am going to get the OK Trident 13. But I need a fish finder for it. All of the videos that I have seen online, they all have Hummingbird fish finders on it, and I really want a Lowrance fish finder. Does anyone have any tips on a good fish finder for a trident 13? Preferably under $200.

Thanks,
Aidan

I would have thought Fishforcure would be on top of this.

There is a thread on forsale for 186.00.
Then what are your needs.  Chirp, gps plotter, dsi?   Lol.  Looks like you need more research.  Or for starters get a kayak first.  Then look for a fish finder.

There are so many options and so many variables. Look for something that has a wide angle sonar otherwise you are searching with a flashlight beam. Consider the different tranducer mounting options as that may limit the field.

Make sure the head unit fits inside the sonar shield. The new Lowrance Elite 4 units are taller than they used to be...but the Elite 5 series should fit. It was originally designed for the Humminbird 500 series, which is now being replaced by the Helix. The new head units are shaped a little differently, and it looks like they might not fit! I haven't seen one yet...but that would suck if they don't fit in the sonar shield.
The transducer-compatible scupper fits the pre-HDI Lowrance transducers but the HDI/chirp 'ducers are too big. For Humminbird, their standard transducers fit fine but I'm not sure about the newer or even the DI 'ducer. For me, the transducer scupper and sonar shield are 2 of the main features of the Trident...so it'd be a shame to not use them. That's why I would strongly consider a unit that will fit in the sonar shield and inside the scupper.

I used the Mark 4 black n white with gps...amazing resoluntion and clarity. You can see your jig go up n down in deep water. The transducer does not fit well tho. I used the Lowrance scupper mount and then cut the mounting tab off the transducer. I used a small piece of stainless to enlarge the flat area so the transducer will fit flush in the hull cutout. I have since gone to a ram arm to get the head unit closer to me as its hard to reach the buttons while seated-Im 5-09". Really isntr as hard as it may sound to cut off the transducer mount as it may sound...if you get  lOWRANCE i CAN SEND YOU PHOTOS.   Also there are several older threads about FF on the T13.

I mounted a Lowrance Mark 4 with GPS. Fits perfect in the sonar shield. I had to modify the transducer as well, there is a thread I posted on this site.
