I have a couple of questions.  Can someone please help me out?

1.  Where is it at?
2.  Do we need a reservation?
3.  How much does it cost?
4. What kind of fish have been pulled out of there?
5.  What's the best bait to use?

I know, you are probably thinking silly ole girl.  But hopefully soon I won't have to ask all of these stupid questions.  But I really appreciate all of the help that you guys (and gals) have given to me.  Thanks!

YakinGal,

There will be details forthcoming for the MFF tourney.  The tourney entry will be $10 (all of which goes to the Chef Fund), I'm not sure about forebay fees and I will get that information.  The Forebay is on highway 152 before it hits 5.

Stay tuned for details.  Most common fish there are stripers, LMB and catfish.  The tourney will focus on stripers and lmb or just stripers.  I haven't figured that part out yet.

MoBasser will provide the official details, but I'll chime in now for a few of the salient points:
1. No reservations--camping is first-come, first served.
2. Day use is $6, overnight camping is $10.
3. the camp sites are primitive--no running water and 'port-a-potties'
4. Fish are predominantly Striped Bass with  a nice population of Black Bass as well. There are Catfish I am told but I have never tried for them nor know anyone who has caught big ones there.
5. As for Bait: shore fishers use frozen anchovies but most boaters use lures or flies with great success. You can buy minnow in Satna Nella (up Route 33 a few miles from the Madeiros entrance) but it is not common,. I beleive Fuzz gotthe first keepr a mont h or so ago on a minnow in the channel by the dam.

Hmmm, no running water and "port-a-potties"?  Are there any bugs?  :smt009 Kidding, I'm only kidding, it sounds like what camping is all about.   :camp

It already sounds like fun, count Sudmucker and I in, but I'll keep a look out for the rest of the details!

Thanks guys!   :smt006

Ya kinGal,

Other side of the forebay where the big boats launch from there are nice bathrooms  Only problem is that you have to camp on the other side.  Only Family Camps on the nice bathroom side and the Family Sties are pricey.

Near the baitshop have a Taco Bell, Denny's, Micky D's, Burger King and Subway.  Also, nice little market with a lot of things.  Also, if the Chinese Rest. is open. I like to go there.  A lot of times they are not.  They have weird hours and cater to the truckers.

Also, extra car if sleeping over night is $5.  Day use is until 10pm.  But, Yaks need to be off the water at sundown.

I have bagged 8 to 14 lbs Cats.  But, I have a buddy that would kill me if I gave away the secrets.  Had a 20 lb Cat.  But, it got off the hook near the shore.

Ken,

This is really sounding like fun.  :smt007 I can't wait until the "details" are up and ready.  I've already got my calendar marked for that weekend.

Are you going?

Details will be finalized and posted tonight.  It will be typical MFF rules but I will get them out there again and get Bill to put up a paypal entry.

I have to go shopping right now, but when I get back I will finalize the rules.

Agree that cats are in the forebay.  Buddy caught one on, of all things, a buzzbait at night once.  Best to fish there are with friends if at night.  Gets spooky.  I'll be down in LA that weekend but you guys'll have fun, if weather holds out.

I think catfish are in every non-moving body of water in the Americas and many moving bodies of water as well.

The only spookiness is because of the ghosts :triplets: :smt103 :smt107.
Oops--forgot--Halloween is over :smt115 :smt003 Nevermind.

Sorry YakinGal,

I am a weekday warrior now.  My job is on the weekends.  But, it is nice to fish and hunt when the regular folks are at work.
