SO I got to dive today. I was sooooooo stoked. it was a last minute decision after texting and then calling Duane(DG) who was at Mackerricher.  It was a little rough (big surge) but doable. I got to get blood on my new gun... Duane found a nice Ling for me to shoot. I hit it right behind the head and when I started back up the damn thing swam off.... oh well next time.... viz was a bout 10 to 15 ft. a little hazy. not much else to tell. other that just had a great time. Thanks Duane

I wasn't so sure about diving today, but drove up and down the coast looking for something that looked possible.  Sarge just happened to be going through withdrawals from diving and reached out to see if we could make it happen today.  The waves were huge and the surge was crazy.  I found one spot that we could dive so he drove over and after I explained how we were going to have to time the water entry and exit between the waves I made sure he was up to it and of course he was.  Most of the fish seen were in the shallows, but as soon as you lined up a shot the surge would move you up to 10'.  Great exercise and better than any Gym.  I wasn't really wanting any fish, but did shoot one perch so I could enter it in DOTY.  I had extra weight on my board but didn't feel like adding it.  Next time I am in conditions like that I will add weight to make it easier to stay down.

Not sure the video clearly shows the power of the surge, but thought I would share.  There were some big Cabazon in the video but they look like kelp or a blur when I watched but know where they are. Its like finding waldo.

Great diving with you Sarge.  Hopefully we can take kayaks out soon and do some exploring on a good day.
