I have 600 yards of PLine CXX line that they gave me at the fish sniffer booth 1 yrs ago ( Jan '13).
Still in the box in cabinet out in the garage.
Is it any good?  Or should I use to hang green beans out in the garden this spring
What do you think?
Thanks

Cut a few feet off & perform a pull test.  With (older) line, I usually rig up 1 reel with it & try before loading all my reels up with it.  Same goes for trying out (new) line that I am not already familiar with.

Beats the hell out of what I just paid to do all 12 of my reels at Sportsmans whorehouse :smt103 I'd follow FFcure's advice (though I'd use it.) I'm going mostly fluorocarbon this year to see if it makes a big diff.... :smt102
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

heat and UV are the biggest factors in breakdown, so since it was stored inside it should be OK...but I like the idea of trying it out on one reel first.

All the top wraps of the mono are going to be the first wraps on the spool, what are the odds you ever get down to them?  I wouldn't hesitate to use it, the stuff sitting in stores right now may have been there just as long.

I've got some mono that's SEVERAL years old, on spools, Cause I hate throwing stuff away I did pull tests on it with a fish scale, I was surprised at how good of shape it was in, new 20# vs 20# that was like 10 yrs old (still on the spool) = no measurable difference,  I was surprised,  Most of the other old spools I had were good too, a few were noticeably NOT.

If you are going to use older line, test it in more than one section before calling it good.

Dont use it! Ship it too me.because theres nothing wrong with it.like the others have already said.if the line is kept out of the sun and extreme heat it should be fine for years.pline cxx is my favorite go to line.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

CXX Why? Looking for some alt to Fluoro that works well. Haven't found line I'm happy with yet...

Ron, I love that CXX.  It is a copolymer, part flouro part mono rolled into one.  Seems to hold up well, great abrasion resistance and not as nasty to work with as pure flouro.

its cast very very good.very good knot strength, high abrasion resistance. Example last year I was fishing for stripers out of san Pablo bay. My setup 8lb cxx mossgreen with a 20lb leader.using it on a 8'6" okuma sst medium spinning rod.when casting plugs I use 12#cxx for stripers, trout fishing I use 2lb on a 7' light action

PLine CXX is the only line I use for everything. Sometimes I'll use fluoro for leader, but I see no reason to use it as a main line.

I hate those little furry frays that start showing up on fluoro...
