I use a float. Depending on the size of the fish you are chasing, I would NOT attach it to your kayak...or your wrists for that matter. I have the 60lbs grips and you do not want to be attached to anything much bigger than say ten pounds if it takes off with your boga grips and its attached to you or your kayak.

some seasoned guys here leash the boga with a bungee to absorb the shock but generally have the fish played out by the time the boga goes on. At least in Monterey Bay, not many fish over 60 pound in kayak range. I would assume an Alaskan barn door sized butt would be another matter completely  :smt004

A little late in response sry. A bungee attached to anything that can take off like a boca grip, rod, knife!! Sounds like a bad idea to me. Would not want a boca grip flying back at me a hundred miles an hour. Lol.  But dang those things are expensive.
