Now that the storms have passed (Hopefully) anyone sustain any damage?  Me, I had a 15foot branch drop out of one of Douglas furs and it landed on our dead after hitting the peak edge of my roof.  The branch hit right on the new top dirp edge, causing the wrinkles in the drip edg, and caused the metal to bubble up.  I had to pack the new bubble in the drip edge with roof jack.
Lots of small branches strewn all over my yard.  Discovered an area of road run-off causing some erosion I'll need to address soon.

Had minor flooding in the basement workshop; its below the ground level and so during heavy rains, it sometimes floods...

It has a sump pump, but takes a while for the water to flow for one end of the workshop, to the drain...

The biggest impact the weather has had, is on my ability to play; and do outside chores....

My greenhouse blew away. That's it in the back neighbor's back yard. It used to be behind the lattice fence.

I lost a 3'x4' or so patch of shingles off my garage in the high winds about 10 days ago. Didn't take pics and already fixed it.

Wife pointed out another "Widow maker"  that fell while I was still in Ireland, this one ( pictures later) fell on my small shed.  Well today I climbed up on the shed roof to remove the branch, and it had speared right through the roof, down inside the shed through a cardboard box containing family photos from my dad ( RIP8/4/08)  and right through my kayak storage cooler! 6 feet had found its way into my shed. :smt011
Had to make 3 cuts in the branch to remove it.  Darn thing was about 18 feet long!
Destroyed my little OB cooler, and following rains destroyed 90% of the photos in the box.  Water and film pictures don't mix. :smt009

I temporarily repaired the roof, laid a tarp over the roof to help shed future rains.
Pictures I just found out are too large in MP size to post at the moment. once I figure out how to shrink them I'll post a few.
Ok, paint did the job.  The short limb, was connected to the cooler inside, sadly the cooler took a fatal blow. The big piece was outside the shed. Took 3 cuts to remove the branch! :smt012

Wind storm the other day blew down my back fence, even snapped a 4x4 post.  Lady on the other side was oh no no one will come out on a holiday.   Quick trip to Lowes for some 10' 2x4s, break out the box of deck screws and the cordless drill and two hours later I had it up as a temporary fix until I have the time to pry out the old concrete and set in new 4x4s then put in all new wood using screws instead of nails.

this entire section blew apart

The bathroom in the front of the house is off limits to me. Guests only. Wife called me in to ask if I had put brighter bulbs in there. Looked up and saw the opaque skylight cover was gone. Found it on the roof. A few sheet metal screws and some caulk and we are back in business.

Other than the general debris of redwood branches about 2-3" thick, we had one big one of about 10" thick and 25 feet long come down about 6 feet away from our honda. Fortunately no damage to the car.

The other day I noticed that half of our double front gate was sagging. During one of the storms the un-tethered gate blew closed and snapped off the 4x6 post it is mounted on, right at the footing. So that will be a future project....

We had a huge limb fall from a giant pine we have in the yard that could have crushed my car, which was parked in that spot the day before!  We had a bunch of tiny ones fall, and some mid sized ones too.  Quinn was scared all night long  :smt009  Hope that the windstorms are gone for now!

I wonder if anyone knows how much it would cost to bring down a pretty large tree?  Would have wood for years!

it varies by how much they have to haul away, chip or stack  I had some large 70'Black Oaks and they were about 400-500 to drop and haul the slash leaving me to cut rounds split and stack.  At my other house we had 80 foot Monterey pines right next to the house, everything had to be carefully cut lowered, chipped and the stump ground out. that was in the 1000's per tree

Buzzcut is spot on. As an owner of a tree service,  I can tell you every tree is unique,  and location/access is huge.
My best advice is not to use the cheapest bid. Tree guys can be a little rough cut.

  Nick.

We had 11 50'+ tall pines limbed & dropped for ~$1400 a couple months ago.  I opted to do all the cleanup, ground work, etc to save some $.  Would have been close to $800 per tree otherwise.  These guys were from Salinas.
