some times you meet people that you will only know for a brief minute or two,but seems in another life you would have been friends or hung out...
I have this happen on craigslist purchases a lot,  this  time it turns out the guy I went to buy the kayaks from is living where I grew up---in a sub division where 30 years ago it was just rolling hills and fields with smooth flowing country road through it,,my friends and  I would ride old Kawasakis  120 mph right through what is now a housing track - on our way to go to Lopez lake and cliff dive on acid and drink Yukon Jack... ....and...this guy grew up here and went to high school here and ran around moss landing and Monterey - where I now live...and my gal works with his family at her hospital job up here...drive two hours into the night to buy kayaks and meet a complete stranger/not a stranger...thats craigslist for ya..or the universe - whatever you call it...

Any ways went to buy one Fish-n-dive and after the first phone calls he listed another one that was his fishing buddies and in his garage...so between a few buddy's up here that are looking for Fish-n-Dives and the extra gear that came with them...a little swapping here and there and everyone now has the kayak-and gear -they want at some killer deals...like new really in great shape and came with some goodies...I want to keep them all but that would not work$$ plus my friends can use the kayaks and pay me !!!

650 and 750   each with   cool stuff...in like new condition really...I am liking the orange one and going to swap out Amy's gray one and some gear to one of the guys for a return on my $$

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

The story is as cool as the boats, maybe more so in this season.

The degrees of separation between us all are usually much thinner than we think.

Not on the same plane as yours but the last time I got rid of something on CL the conversation went something like this, "OK I'll take it" Good where are you located, ,,,,,,,,, end of story, the guy was 2 blocks down the street.   pickup took 5 min.

wonderful story! May I also ask what rack you are using for your car? I'm looking for the exact same one that will hold two kayaks.

after a lot of pricing online and reading reviews AND asking members here.. I went to R.E.I -- I payed a tad more than getting the same stuff on ebay or used...but it was a one stop shopping and I never looked back...the guy came out to the parking lot and looked at my van..then we went inside and he picked out four folding Thule J racks and two square 6' or so cross bars...(over sized -longer than recommended-by my request --and hang over some-watch your head walking by the van)...then he picked out the correct 4 "feet"  that hold the square crossbars on my dodge van factory roof runners....he sold me little Thule locks /anti theft for the feet but I returned them later (60$) and I almost bought a visor right then too ,for wind noise, did not need it though..sounds quiet enough...

Thule 835PRO Hull-a-Port Pro...500 and change for the whole deal...but man...so worth it to have NEW stuff with extra clips and gear and to be one and done the same day....they are the SHIT and makes doing a all day road trip safe ....strap and go...fold down for the rest of the time...my kayaks are super wide and they are up there super secure.
I do use a long rope to wind the whole thing down tight, and  tie it together , hold it all  down so they dont clam shell as I drive in winds...can do 80 no problem ...and not worry that I'm gonna kill someone if they come off..

Not familiar with "power paddles". Is that a brand?  do you have photos?

i'll look at the name when I get home..had mine 2 years and just called it a fat paddle...the guy last night called em, power paddle said he paid 125...big clumsy things compared to the high end one folks use...but they move some salt ,when it is rough and my fat ass in a fish n dive...they can fight me back to shore

i'll post up pics and name in a while

I'm guessing it is more of a square blade vs. More of a rounded blade?

so they are

 http://www.tgwatersports.com/cobra-kayak-2-piece-powerflex-paddle/

here are two quick phone pics showing a Cobra PowerFlex next to a standard /random kayak paddle

the part I like is the heavily curved ,large surface and small slope on the bottom edge...it is able to move as much water as a very strong person can pull by the kayak in a giant pull--- do this for a long stretch and it is quite an upper body blast as well as moves the yak along on top of the water imo...or it will just paddle along if you dont pull hard it does not either....it aint no CF-- light paddle but I dont get that anyways...to each his/her own.. :smt002

Nice post and congrats on some new Cobra's! Great boats. Love your post on those paddles. I have the upper body strength so I am thinking it is a good one to help me fight the wind. Good tip!
