Channel surfing last night and caught the beginning of The Parent Trap from 1961, which features Hayley Mills as twin precocious pre-teens and Brian Keith playing the father with squinty-eyed concern.

The scene was on Pebble Beach golf course and showed Stillwater in the background for about 5 minutes.  Huge kelp beds stretching up towards the point.  Further scenes revealed NO houses along the shore towards the point, and a bigger beach with sandy arroyos.

I instantly went into fantasy mode imagining how the cabezone bite would have been at that spot in 1961.

Coincidentally, I'll be fishing there on Sunday with a couple clients.  Hope to hit the Pinnacles if the ocean is cooperative.

I may join you Sunday if Garrapata looks too rough (or if my fishing buddy bails due to the weather forecast).  :smt004

Hey Peter:

I thought about Garrapata, but the idea of hikes and cliffs and mostly unpredictable conditions for newbies  made me re-think.

The 1st time I ever fished stillwater, was a day Steve S and I were blown off the water at Garrapata, 7am.  The wind came up so fast, i wasn't sure if we were going to make it back to the launch spot!  We drove to Carmel and went to the end of the street above Carmel main beach and  looked over at a fantasy fishing spot.  Didn't know at the time we could have parked right there. We had a blast!

Be great to see you on Sunday if it happens, If not good luck at Garrapata  (It's smart not to go out there alone.)
