I am thinking about ditching my scotty and going with one of these on either side of my yak.  I have a gps wth a ram mount that I would like to be able to mount on the same mount as the rod holder.  Do these Rod Holders work well and does anyony know what size the Ram ball is that comes with them?  I like the idea that you can move the arm around to position the rod holder where you want it.  Thanks for the feedback.

I have one of these, it works very well with a spinning reel. Can troll with it mounted between my feet on my Prowler 15 and due to the nifty design I can easily let out and reel-in line with one hand. Have not used it with casting reel, and I understand it wont work with a flyrod. I recommend it!

I've got one of these as well and I really like it. It takes all kinds of rods and reels, moves into almost any position, locks the rod in, and can be removed. Quite versatile.  :smt002

Z   When you say 'all types of rods' does that include a fly rod? It looks to me as tho it would hold a salt water fly rod with a fighting butt if you place the reel to the side in the conventional reel recess. What do you think? I like the 'infinite' positionability. Is it metal or composite material? Thanks for any input.

I think it actually might fit a fly rod without a fighting butt. From what I'm guessing the reel and butt would hang down with the rod in the clip. The weight from the rod would push the butt up into the holder. Does that make any sense?? :smt003 It takes a second to figure out how it works even when you have it in front of you. But from my experience it looks lke it just might work.

Yeah, the holder itself is some type of plastic or composite, either way it's super tough. The rest of the arm is all steel (I'm guessing) and heavy duty.

Hope this helps!
