Hey guys...Im ordering a Lowrance Elite 4 hdi with transducer today... Found good deal online.  (No one local has one in stock).  My yak is an OK Scrambler XT.  I was thinking I should order a scupper mount for the transducer.   This might be a dumb question but...does the scupper mount come with a transducer or is it just hardware that attaches to the transducer that comes with the Elite 4 unit?

Are there better ways to mount transducer to older model yak? I've got a couple ideas searching threads.  I don't want to do to much surgery to the yak beacause I will most likely be upgrading yaks next year and keep the scrambler for nephews.

Appreciate any ideas...thx

The lowrance scupper mount kit does not come with the transducer.

if you do not want to do much surgery then how about inside the hull wet mount?

I was going to post a similar question. I recei my Elite 4 HDI and the transducer is larger than my old HB transducer. It won't fit flush in my OK prowler 11 scupper hole. Looking at a wet bath or a diy attachment arm located where a rudder would go. I'd prefer the scupper location for water temp, takes up storage space and to not diminish sonar readings. Im hoping to get advise from FFTC and others.

The HDI transducers are about 2x the size of a "standard" 83/200 ducer.  The do work well for a shoot thru the hull eaterbath but you (basically) loose water temp.  Scupper mount ishard if you want it flush BUT that depends on the yak.  Liberator arm is an option.  Stern mount is an option but usually requires you to make your own mount.  The new Hobie's have a Lowrance specific mount plate that works with the HDI transducer.

In the end, it all depends on the yak, your desired installation location & sometimes your ability to engineer a way to mount it.

Just put one in my Hobie which was easy with the plate.  They are BIG, a good 5 or 6 inches long I'd guess, I don't know of anyway it could fit flush in a scupper.  The little triangle piece on top slides on/off, otherwise its pretty naked as far as a way to mount brackets or anything.

I just did a Lowrance 4x HDI install 2 weeks ago in an older Tarpon Tandem. With Bills help, we did the wet bath install and it has worked very well. PM me and I can send you the post I did. Wet bath shooting through the hull works well.

I just installed my new transducer in my revo and I had a hell of a time fitting it up into the hole. Super tight, it was. I had to really squeeze it up there. As it is now, the mounting plate is slightly proud of the hull. Do y'all think that'll be a problem?

That's what she said....Bwahahaha  :smt044. We knew that was comin!!

Good stuff. I like the idea of the mount inside the hull. Thx for the info. I'll post up my install when I'm done.

Made this simple impromptu scupper mount for the Elite 4 HDI for my Prowler Big Game. Snitched a few stoppers from my beer/winemaking supplies and had the other pieces kicking around. Definitely doesnt stay within the recessed transduscer area under the kayak but I'm careful launching and landing. Might not stick with it forever but its worked really nicely so far. Can't say enough great things about this FF as it absolutely blew me away the first time I had it out on the water.
