It is right behind Encinel (spelling) high school on the North end of alameda. If you are going North right past the high School there is an access road that goes past the football field. great launch, porta pottiesand close parking. Randall

Is this a good place for beginners to go? What kind of fish are targeted here?

This is a great place for live bait. If you don't have knowledge to throw a net in the estuary take a sabaki and try to make bait in the marina.
Squid is what Phil and I used the day he caught his Salmon but it hit a Kastmaster 1 oz. on the troll.
It is a good place for a begginner with company. Try to be there when the tide changes. Of course this is insaneduanes playground and maybe just maybe he could chime in and offer a few tips.

hay marry I sent you a pm because my PC kept shuttling down but I think I got it working now
as for the rockwall it is all about the live bait oakland bait has bullheads if you cant catch your own; bullheads are good
for stripers just bring a bucket of saltwater.

as for the tides big tides are the best for stripers at the rockwall with the low having the best results.
small tides are good for halibut they seem to hit better when the water is moving slow and they have been known to
hit dead bait like anchovies and sardines but still live is best or you can just troll a kastmaster or a softbait white in color.

so do you know how to throw a bait net that is something to think about there is a lot of bait around here
you just need an airrater to keep them going I have a post in gearing up you can see how I do it KEEPING IT ALIVE
look for. as lernning how to throwing a net is not that hard I was showing my girlfriend and she did ok and she dont
have any fishing skill at all.  as for the nets the outdoor pro shop has them for 20 bucks good luck duane :smt001
