Crab report for Doran Beach 11-11-14

My friend Rich was off work and his kids had no school so we decided to go crabbing.
we arrived to Doran Beach about 7:30 AM and were setting traps by 8:30 AM.
we set up a total of 6 traps and 4 ambush rings and it was very slow. keep on finding a few very small females so we moved the traps over and over again. we finally got a few but that seems to be story with almost everyone. Ruben and family were there having fun so was Spike and a few other familiar faces.
Met a fellow kayaker from Benicia named Chip. and a few more from Santa Rosa.
He noticed a line under water without a float with the cheapest possible line attach to a trap, apparently there were some people putting some traps with only a  2 litter bottle of sprite for a float and when they put them in the water it separated from the trap. I was told that from the guy camping next to them, so i pulled the trap to rescue it and went to the jetty camping spot but they were gone. My friend Rich found an ambush ring with a line that was green with algae and also no float, that one was most likely hit by a propeller.

I had a good haul 11/11, (overnight soak) but it seemed like the majority of people weren't doing so good... It slowed down and then I put some pots out wednesday 11/26  and my boyfriend picked them up Thursday with his brother 11/27 and got limits!

   That is because the "black kayak" only works with a spear gun 

I might do a couple hours on Friday around noonish.

I'll be there this weekend if it's nice..otherwise I'm going to the Russian River

Parked next to you Wednesday and saw you rig up and paddle out your SUP on the nasty wind.  Glad you guys got some.
