Hi All,
Was in HMB crabbing - this past Sunday.
And I saw this kayaker towing what looked to be a mini yak behind him - with gear on it. I thought it was a pretty neat idea.
So I looked into it (looked to be a Banks Board)- now I can't decide which one to get - version I or version II. Does anyone here have any experience with them?

Does it cause much drag (I'm on a mirage outback tandem)? Can I put a crab pot (not folding version) on top of it without it tipping?

I was thinking version I would be better as it is a little smaller and has a nice hatch in front for dry storage. Just would like a little more room as the Outback tandem has little space.

Happy Fishing,
Ken

Aside from some more specialized dive rigging, I think the main differrence was that version2 had a greater volume that the previous, thus having a greater carrying capacity.

..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

The Banks Board is very good at tracking and glides through the water fast.
Sometimes too fast if you let go of it and it's not tethered.

It should be able to support a non folding pot but you may have trouble with two stacked on top of another. They may topple over because of the height.

You should be able to get four collapsible traps on it though. It's actually meant to be a dive board.

This is the model I have

Thanks all for the reply - very helpful.
@Antonio - is the hatch easy to access on the ocean?
Like the abalone pic!

It opens easy and locks by rotating it. I normally don't open it when on the water though. I keep my license and radio in there.

i have the latest model w/out the hatch.. all work well for diving.  I just took it cause o
i was unsure about hauling all the gear, turns out i loved it.  less crap all over your yak and like Antonio said don't stack fixed pots on there. As for the collapsable type get a feel for it first and see how many you can safely place on there.  The board also works a a crab hold.. I couldn't feel any drag slowing me down and i was paddling.  The only problem sometimes i had was after i made a drop and paddled off the board would grab the buoy and i have to go back

Hey JasonB- thanks for the insight.  Good to know about the buoy tangle.  Do you think one non-collapsible trap would be OK?
Not sure u remember but I was the guy in the tandem outback - I really like the setup !
