Never been there.  But looked up the web site.  They do allow kayak.  They even got a kayak rentals outfit on the lake.  Probably, only open on weekends.

They allow 4 cycle engines and have a max. 25 mph speed limit.  Minimum length on Kayak is 10 ft.

$6.50 per car...Boat Launch is $6 & float tube is $4.....Daily fishing access permit is $4.  866 acres and 14 miles of shoreline...2 stores..snack bar..short order grill...opens at 6:30am.n  Hope they charge $4 for a Yak and not $6.

Records for the lake Trout 21 lbs 12.8oz....Bass 18 lbs 11.2oz....Catfish 31 lbs 4.8oz....Sturgeon 105 lbs...also have crappie & bluegill .  Closes end of Oct.

Hey Danglin! Ive done OK trolling along the tower(you wiil see it)side, and some of the coves on the other for trout. Some big bass there too, Ive heard different things from there, some good and some not so good. Its worth a try I think. They have cats and even a few sturgies too. You go to Mexico yet you lucky dog? Ben

If I ever say I am going to go to San Pablo Resivor again,....Please kick me :spank...FRIGGIN MUD HOLE!!!!!

It's right in my backyard, but what a disappointment it is, Last year did well trolling, this year I've been blanked 2x.

I've even talked them into getting kool kayaks to rent, 2 Outbacks ( Only one still has the drive system, the other Davy Jones locker, reservoir so no can retrieve) 1 quest and a few other Hobbies with 1/2 off rental on Fridays.

3.00$ charge to launch, 6.50 to park..4.00 for daily permit, and unless you dig soaking chartreuse powerbait, chances are fairly slim.

One store with grill attendant who will be very displeased if you where to order anything.

Big problem here is it's run by EBMUD and frankly with what I've heard and have witnessed, they have there head up their tookus..............I never will return....

Brighter note, just exchanged e-mails with my Hero Dennis Spike, and am still in process of booking the date

I guess I up for buying LOTS of icecream; I got a lot of millage out of that Thresher, Nice color photo in the San Mateo Times, Nice little Picture page one of WON, and a bigger pic pg 33 of the most recent Fish Sniffer.

Danglin,

You can post your last message on "Fishing Reports".  I think a lot more people will see it there.  Also, you may want to try Chabot next time.  Only problem with Chabot is that you need wheels or 2 guys to carry your kayaks down.  Long way from parking lot to ramp.  They had a bait shop/coffee shop and grill.
I have also been fishing Quarry Lakes in Fremont.  Doing OK.  But, it will get better.  just the start of trout season.

Ya hear ya about posting report somewhere else, but did not want more people to see that one!
I've been thinking of tring chabot lately, whats the cost to put in there?

Quarry Lakes.....That is a mind blower for me, back in the late 70's/ early 80's that was our stomping grounds and it was illegal to fish there. The main lake they have off Isherwood use to be guarded 24hrs.

We used to sneak in @ night or early morning and called it " Nam Fishing". The Guard had a spot light that would light up 30' plus feet of shore line and it was quite an experience.

Being teenagers looking for trouble, we even use to mess with them a bit...Crosswire the plugs on their car, string fishing line around their guard house, or the worst :angry7: ( poor Peg leg )  string wire on the path where they would chase us with motorcycles :smt009  Ya those where the days

Don't feel to bad for the gaurds, believe me they created much missery on their own,

But the fishing!!! Wow!, we called the main lake " Rhodes ", It was quite common to see huge schools of bass and some well over 10lbs. Really looking forward to a homecoming there,

As soon as I stock up on superior fire power... :smt070 :smt071 :smt068 :smt072....Danglin

Quarry & Chabot are the same.  Parking is $6.  A cartop Kayak is $2 and a fishing permit (daily one) is $4.  I got the yearly parking pass ( starts on the day? Maybe it is the month you buy it).  Last year I got it for $30.  This year  it was $50 for country residents and $65 for non.  I had to get the higher price one.  You save the $6 for parking and good at any East Bay Lake.  Chabot, Quarry, Del Valle, Shadow Cliffs and a few more.

Quarry, Shadow Cliffs and Del Valle are lakes where you will not need a Kayak cart.  But Chabot you will or atleast 2 guys to carry your Yak down from the parking lot to the launch.  I would get some wheels (cart) for this place.

Quarry (Horseshoe lake is what the big lake is called now) has some funny rules.  No lead wieghts in the tackle box, no beer and no boats over 17ft.  Only trolling motors and you can not even have a gas motor (not using it) on the boat.  They will turn you way.

The website is www.ebparks.org/parks/quarry.htm and Chabot info is there too.
