Welocome!! I love fishing in Mendocino...

I'm the same size as yourself, and I was also shopping 11ft kayaks (my storage was limited at the time). Tried a few at Del Valle, and after considering how much gear I'd be taking with me and rough seas, etc, I opted for a Prowler 13 - higher weight capacity, and more stable in my opinion than an 11ft kayak. Enjoy!!

Welcome To The Madness!

You might consider a yak longer than 11 feet for the North Coast. They tend to track better and handle swell easier.

They can also offer more stowage space to clear the deck for surf landings. Try different brands and lengths to find what's right for you.

Good luck!

Welcome fellow Mendonesian   :smt006   If you're looking to spend a lot of time fishing the ocean, bigger is better kayak wise......especially around here.  I'm in Fort Bragg, if you come up this way.
