"if the plates don't fit, you must acquit"

In 2011, $an Franci$co Dept of Parking and Traffic i$$ued tix totaling 142 million in fine$.  beleeeeve dat $$$$hit?  (I accounted for a $ubstantial number of tho$e lol)

Wonder what Santa Cruz or Capitola pulls wit dey $hady practice$

I do believe it. They towed my truck one morning, then posted up no parking signs on the street (for a go-kart race of all things). We had video of officers putting up the signs on an empty street. i had to pay to get my car out of impound, but I made a complaint appointment and finally got my money back, 3 months later.

Santa Cruz (and most municipalities) use  a second party to collect funds from citations making it difficult and timely to fight a ticket.  By the time you send one letter and get a response it's getting close to being delinquent. ..

Got ticket in vallejo parking lot for not displaying monthly permit.  Blew out when I opened the window.  Next day I used receipt to of monthly permit and got ticketed second time.  Found out that Vallejo too have a second party to do their collecting.  I contested it through mail but with the overlapped of mail and delinquent notices it got to be confusing.  So far I have not heard anything from them. Been about a year now.  Don't know if they dismissed it or they are racking up fines in secret. :smt009

Well, ironic because I just opened a letter saying I still owe for my parking violation 3 months ago, even though I paid it already (money's been taken from my account) 3 months ago. Grr.

With the amount of bogus tix written and the purely commercial intent of the intentional bad conduct I always thought SF and other cities would be exposed to RICO suit

FYI...
Chanel 2 news at 5 on Friday will have a investigative report on private ticketing rip offs and "legal advice" on what to do about it. Might be worth watching.

Some of you wanted to know how this turned out.

Surprise Surprise !!! Thought they would find some reason to blow off my proofs.  However, they accepted my explanation and documentation and cleared the parking citation. I sent in my weekly work time statement and my Fastrack record showing I was at and going to work on the day they cited me. Did it online however they only accept one documentation attachment, so I also mailed everything to them. Chalk up one minor victory against the PTB's    Yea!  :blob3: ::  :
