Hello everyone,

As the year is waning, the weekend of November 4th will be the last scheduled work weekend this year. The plan is to get grass seed spread and Bitterbrush seeds into the ground before the snow starts.

Jesse has offered to bring up an ATV. Xao and Dan have said they would try to make it also and bring their ATVs. I have a battery powered seeder that can be mounted on the back of an ATV. If we have more than one ATV, someone can sit on the back of it and cast seed by hand. I am required to plant at least an acre of grass. But, the more the better. New grass will reduce erosion next spring.

Planting the Bitterbrush is strictly manual work. It consists of putting a fence post into the ground, planting some seeds at the base of the fence post and then securing a screen over the planting. This is to protect it from the mice digging up the seeds before the snows and to keep other animals from eating the shoots in the spring.

Phillip is headed up early to open up the camp on the 3rd. I will arrive late on the 3rd and will stay until the afternoon of the 6th. There is an extra pop up camper set up that has two beds and there is a 4 person tent set up. There is also plenty of space for more tents or campers.

I will be bringing up wild game for dinners (pheasant, deer, boar, fish). As usual, there will be lots of food and drink to keep everybody energized.

Come on up and join us for the last work weekend of the year.

If you can join us, let me know so that I can plan the menu.

Bigdog,
Since we last communicated I got swamped at Bean Hallow and put up a challenge for the experienced to show newbies how to self rescue. Well the challenge looks to being met and the date is that weekend. Although I would Love to help out and join in the fun (planting seed) and doing Eagle lake I think I had better attend this outpouring  of NCKA who are stepping up to the plate. Hope to meet up with you in the future. Frank

No problem Frank. I know people have other responsibilities and priorities. I knew it would be like that when I started the project. I just keep my head down, concentrate on the goal and when I pick up a little assistance here and there, it is GREAT.
Good luck on training the newbies.
