I'm planning on launching from Van Damme on Monday (could be Tuesday, depending on family commitments) for some fishing in the cove area.  The forecast is sunny, with a high near 66. Marine forecast is N winds 5 to 15 kt., waves NW 5 ft at 9 seconds...and NW 7 ft at 15 seconds. It looks like the beach should be protected pretty well from NW swell, but can anyone let me know if I should expect it to be rough going? I've never launched there before.

Anyone else going to fish the cove on Monday or Tuesday?

VD is likely the flattest launch on the coast, and if it's rough there no one should be on the ocean.

Rockfish and lingcod season is closed there.

Good luck.

What he said. By far the most protected launch on the coast.
If it wasn't closed I'd join ya. Looking for a place to hang out for 3 or 4 days.

I'll be on a family trip, looking to get OTW where the kids can play on a beach. Probably the best option looks like Anchor Bay, which is too far to fit into our schedule. Wish I could make it to the LRC the next week, I'll have to plan better next year!

I hope you find a good place to hang out, Tote.

If this helps, Timber Cove is fishing good. Nice beach and easy launch.
