We have been getting up to four or more robocalls a day, some days will go by with no calls and some days the calls are more numerous.  I tried blocking the calls which did nothing and that leads me to believe they are robocalls.  My wife told me that several times she selected the "remove me from future calls" selection on several of the calls which was probably a mistake.  We now never answer the phone and let it go to the answering machine to screen the calls.  I finally got fed up and added our phone number to the National do not call registry which can take up to 31 days to work.  Anyone else have horror stories about phone calls?

Ed, my voice mail message used to just say "Please leave a message." Big mistake. Then I amended it to "Please leave a message. Solicitors will be automatically deleted." The phone still rings and trips the message, but only one out of 100 leave a message now. If it is a friend, a message will be left, as well as missing persons alerts from police. Unfortunately, the politicians are tone deaf.  :smt012

Bottom line is that Do Not Call Registry is official law, but doesn't work, it may slow some down but the prosecution rate vs the complaint rate is so low that any company that wants to ignore the law has about as much chance of being even fined as getting struck by lightening. Also there's a long list of exceptions to the law.

I get 4-7 marketing calls a day, anyone who really needs me has my cell and thankfully it hasn't been prone to marketing calls yet.

Most people know I check my messages but basically don't answer my land line.

I feel your pain.

On another note, my kids and other young people I know have ceased using voicemail,  If I want to get ahold of anyone under 30 I'll text them.

we got a new- to us- home phone installed 2 years ago...right away the calls started..I waited, and after the pause, someone came on..I told them we were on the do not call list, and will be reporting this call....it took a few more times..and we had a spurt of calls start once this year ,and had to wait till the auto reader put someone on and tell them we were gonna report them, not that i would take the time or know who to report to...
our 'home phone ' does not ring ever...ever..never...when it does ,it startles us...works fine for me...we get no calls ever

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”

xcl'd the landline a few yrs ago(saved money and dont get ANY CALLS) I get them on my cell phone EVERYDAY. I dont pick up,,, i call back,,, then play their game and ask them to stop calling me.

I got a call from someone who claimed to be the IRS last month......they told me that my wife owes and has been "avoiding taxes" and that i could settle for just $3,000...i laughed and told them to send me an official document and I'll pay it. The wife called them also (i saved the #) and they told her she was going to be arrested if we did not pay.......we'll we called the real_IRS and they told us we had no outstanding taxes due. I called them the following day and the number had been disconnected..........i guess they thought we were stupids.

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.
