I'm visiting San Fran oct 28-31 and was wondering what the weather is gonna b like?
Water temp?
Guide availability?
Cost?
Getting a sturgeon from the bay in a day?

I called the two guys that came up on a google search for San Fran kayak fishing guide but neither one called back.
Any info would help.

Could be hot and dry, could be wet and cold - it's California!

Sturgeon - maybe.

There WILL be some kind of opportunity - it's California!!

I recommend persisting with some posts here, get to know the forum and community, watch the development of fall fisheries such as sturgeon, river salmon and big lingcod closer to shore, and choose from the best options once you get closer to the time of your visit.

Best of luck.

I always call back.   :smt001

End of October has a really good chance for great weather. It could also rain, but smart money is on fantastic no fog low 70s blissful Indian summer days.

Fall salmon. Mmmmmm.

Eric always calls back, but he's halfway to Portland. If you are willing to roadtrip north you could be in for an adventure of epic proportions.

Sturgeon in a day is rare.  Many go out numerous times before catching one.  But it is possible.  Like winning the lottery, someone will win just may not be you.  Good luck on your adventure.

Sturgeon is one of the hardest to catch in the bay especially in a day better off hitting the napa river or delta area. On ghost shrimp, Loch Lomond bait shop has them. Them dinosaurs ain't easy.

I can't think of any licensed guides (kayak) who specialize in fishing for sturgeon.  We have quite a few guys around who try for 'em but don't think they're official guides.

Also, if it never rains, that won't be a problem.

The ocean will still be open for rockfish though, so you may want to consider that - we have a couple members who are ocean guides.
