Looked at the 400 also. It's easily as big as a TranX and won't cost you as much . If you want a low profile to drag bottom or troll for salmon and middle weight species, it should do the trick quite well. Would be overkill for kelp beds and everyday rockfish. 

 I have a 300 in LH drive I use for banking the rivers for salmon up here and have even used it as a light set up on a charter coupled to a hard to find Daiwa Jupiter 76THD 17-30. For that it's excellent.

If you do buy one, make sure you have the documentation in the box when you pick it up. When I bought my 300 the retailer had to contact their supplier and put me on a waiting list. for some reason, the 3-& 400's haven't all been coming with the normal booklets or sheets.
