Besides JasonB; any other NCKAers participating in Ironman Lake Tahoe Sun???  For those folks unfamiliar with this event it has 3 events rolled into one for a cumulative 140.6 miles in one day.  First a 2.4 mi swim in Lake Tahoe, then proceed to the 112 mi bike ride requiring riders to climb Brockway Summit twice!!, THEN they run a full marathon (26.2 mi) and finish at Squaw Valley Village.  There is also the half distance  (70.3 mi) event.  If you, a family member or friend are participating, post up so we can root for you, cheer you on  :smt006.  You are World Class Athletes with dedication, passion and pure never give up stubbornness and deserve to be recognized.

The Tahoe Ironman is one of the toughest to do. I had a friend of mine who is a world class ironman competitor do it numerous times and he even did the Hawaiian one several times too. He states because of the altitude and cold water the event zaps the heck out of you.

I could do an ironman back in the day, but my neutral buoyancy is about six feet under water and it is so difficult for me to even float. So I can't swim to well, but I can cycle and used to run like the wind. We, my buddy and I, used to do mini biathlons when we worked together at lunch. That I could do and I could stay with him all the way; but get me in water and I become a boat anchor. :smt003

Russ bike check in is at kings beach today after 10 so I'll drop I if you're working today. Next year maybe more ncka members will make the trek. I'm doing the half up here. This is my halfway point to a full. Either way I never thought this to be possible being 30+ pounds overweight and haven't run since teen years or for that matter ridden a bike without a beer in the bottle cage(still do on off days while wife runs :smt003). It was hard to get lazy ass off couch but once I started I just kept setting new goals. So much easier to put wetsuit on I can paddle all day and bottom time has improved while diving. But it is like having a second job with all the training. So maybe next year we will have something established w ncka.

Jason what is your # number. I will look for you on the course to cheer you on Brother.I promise :smt002 not to blow the air horn and scare the sh.....hecck :smt044 out of you. Just checked and still no GWS sightings, so swim strong and enjoy the sunrise, peddle fast, keep it under 53 mph on the Brockway downhill, stay hydrated, and keep the shoe laces tied during the run.  :smt006

Oh well shit happens sometimes. The whole weekend was very energetic. I met people from all over the U.S. And other countries. I was just suiting up when they announced the cancellation. It was a good call as squaw valley was packed with smoke and that's where the bike concluded and the run began. Lots of mixed emotions. As for me being pissed off was no option, we loaded up car headed to truckee and had biscuits and gravy with a PBR to flush it down. Haven't had it in months!!  Thanks for support and maybe see some of you on the water. Jason B
