Just like X-mas! I just found 2 Penn Peerless #9 reels and a Penn#160 in an old box of gear my ex's dad gave me years ago. one peerless#9 runs perfectly while the other#9 & #160 have major clunks when reeling w/no load. I can't seem to find any info on these reels (retired?). Does anyone know anything about these models. The #9's are small. The #160 is pretty beat up but looks to be beefyer? Can I rebuild/pump up these models. What wt.line and how much do they hold. Any info greatly appreciated.       Randall

Thanks allen, great site and makes me want to juice the reels up a little. The #9's feel like a sweet little ree,l maybe a little too litle? Anyone ever use one?     Randall

I think those were popular for leadcore freshwater trolling. I'm sure they catch fish just fine.

FWIW, the Penn 9, 109, 209 have traditionally been popular in the Puget Sound for general salmon and bottom fishing.  They all have the same drag washers and I just checked, the 9 and the 160 are the same too.

Maybe trolling for macs in tahoe? I think this might be a great starter project for learning to rebuild! Randall
