Bob, my buddy Jeff, and I fished in Jeff's boat on Saturday in the China Camp/Rat Rock area. We were within a good cast from shore of the little point that is SW of Rat Rock.

I mostly fished a live bullhead on a three way rig for one 20" striper and one leopard shark (pictured). Both were released. I was stoked on the leopard because since I was using a live bullhead I was hoping it was a monster striper. Oh well, it was still an awesome fight om my 7' Quantum, Shimano Corvalus, and 14lb mainline and leader. Berkeley vanish gets my nod of approval as far as durability.

Bob and Jeff both fished grass/ghostshrimp combos. Bob landed a ~28" striper, then a ~30" striper, then a 21" striper. Not positive, but they seemed to be preferring the ghostshrimp.

The excitement for the day (after my shark) was when Jeff got slammed and line was just rippin' off his reel at a furious pace. We had seen quite a few jumping sturgeon and marked some HUGE fish on the FF, so we threw anchor and ended up chasing a 100lb range batray all over northern San Pablo Bay....lol.

Other than that we each missed a bite or two, but that was it.

Thanks guys. Where we were fishing is probably a four minute paddle from Bullhead Flats...lol. There were fish in that hole just south of Rat Rock all day. Some monsters, too. We just couldn't convince too many to bite.

Also, the area just outside of Loch Lomond Marina was PACKED with baitfish when we launched in the morning.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that we fished the top of the tide and the outgoing, with all fish coming within the first 2 or 3 hours of the outgo.

I'll post some pictures of the stripers.

Sounds like a great day on the water. Conditions looked great too.

We were anchored.

We did troll hairraisers and Rat L Traps for maybe a half an hour, but none of us have ever had any luck trolling, so we gave that up fairly quickly and went back to Rat Rock. The people that know what they're doing have been getting some nice stripers (so I heard) by trolling the shoreline around McNear's and south towards the marina.
