I take it that he wore his weight belt all the way down...

Was it an equipment failure?  I could see a ruptured BC or drysuit causing one to sink like that. 

the guy was using a rebreather rig and they made no mention of the equipment, data logged in the computer or anything. it was all passed to the coroner.

rebreathers when used properly are great but if you are off on anything, it can be over before you realize it.

i'd be curious to see what the readings were on his rebreather rig were at the time it happened. i wonder if it logged all the info. after a few days down there maybe no info is available though.
