Sand in my Shimano TLD 15

I had a little incident today and my reels wound up submerged in sandy water. I lightly sprayed them off then greased them. Now I'm soaking them in warm water and Dr Bronners soap. I turned the crank a few times (probably shouldn't have) and one definitely has a little sand.

I'm hoping to fish with it again soon. Will soaking it in water and soap help? I usually send my reels off for work in the off-season.

So what now?

Never mind. I took it apart, cleaned it, greased it, and put it back together. Like new!
If you ever take a reel apart. Take a picture of it before each step. This was invaluable.

I usually get a schematic and lay out the parts in order as I take my reels apart.  Also don't get distracted as you do this or else

Yep. I just finished all three TLDs. They're good as new. Definitely precision work.

Nice going. I like the Shimano TLD. They are not that complicated to maintain, get the job done, and cheaper.
I would upgrade to carbon fiber drags. It makes a big difference when fighting fish.
