Hey guys,
I have seen posts about MirageDrive parts being an issue. After speaking with engineers and warranty departments they have said the recent changes within the last 4 months has been significant. The MirageDrive pedal crank has increased in thickness. The entire MirageDrive is now 20% stronger since the changes were made.
If you have an issue with a MirageDrive that is no older than 2 years old, we encourage you to place a warranty claim with your nearest Hobie dealership. We want to help anyone with our products that does not feel our products are quality. That being said problems that are recurring and are associated with corrosion can be easily avoided with regular maintenance. Just like a car or engine outboard, MirageDrives must be maintained to continue operating.
ALSO-Any aftermarket upgrades installed on MirageDrives will void the warranty. Hobie kayak and components warranty does not cover "Damage caused by alterations or modifications"
