He is a state park ranger, not a game warden.

Ha, that was my first reaction as well. Not "why is this ranger drunk on the job ?," but rather, "why is this guy drinking such shitty beer ?" This would be far less offensive if he had a bomber of Lagunitas or Green Flash or Russian River in his hand.  :smt044

Wow, and sad to see that this will ruin the image of the Rangers for a bit. I can see it being really slow on days and I do love a good beer( not colored water keystone) but no excuses for that one….should have parked more remote  :smt003

I suppose my take on this differs than prior posts. The public trust that this officer violated is not excusable by any stretch. However, I cannot help but wonder what struggle's in this man's life drove him to such extremes in acceptable behavior for anyone, let alone a sworn Officer. The ravages of alcoholism/addiction do not exclude any person, race or occupation. I was as shocked as others to see the sad photo of Tyson Young at what is surely the lowest point of his life. I've spoken to him by phone numerous times over the years and he was always helpful and polite.

Many of you know of my occupation as a sworn federal "Ranger" with the National Park Service in San Francisco. It saddens me to see a brother so far down a rabbit hole that he'll need to climb many miles to get out. Alcoholism is in abundance in the law enforcement profession. I've done this for 26 years, have seen and handled the worst of the worst in terms of the human condition, tragedy, death, mayhem and all the rest.....stories that'd curl many, many toes.

Hope he gets the help he'll need to turn his life around. I agree that nobody made him do what he did, that he should and will pay dearly for what transpired.....my eleven cents

Maybe I'm missing something here.
Why is everyone assuming he's an actual alcoholic?
It was suggested as use of a good defense, but where does it read that he actually is?

I suppose that I've made leap in logic in assuming he's an alcoholic. If not than something really crappy must have occurred for him to have behaved as he did.
