Hi,

Started fishing at 8am at Half Moon Bay.  Real nice....no wind...3ft wave every 8 sec.  It was sunny and hot.  No overcast today.  Low was at 7:45am so I knew it was going to be slow for awhile.  First fish was a 17" Cabbie on torpedo wt. 4oz and squid.  Got a gopher on the next drop and then it died.  Fishing the big rock that sticks out at low.

Moved to the second green can.  Got another 17" or 18" Cabbie.  Already had the other one.  So, it went back into the sea.  Had a couple of lings on but they both came unbutton at color.  Next had a nice big blue that wrapped me around some seaweed.  I could see it and my gaff was to short.  I let out some line and it worked itself free.  Only to come off at the yak.

Got two blues (one big & one med).  Released a 8" Cabbie and had 6 rocks and Cabbie to clean.  Bite went dead at 10am.  Stayed fishing until 11am.  High was going to be a 2pm.  But after 4 to 5 hrs on the Yak.  My butt gets sore.

Sorry, no pics...misplaced my SD card.

Nice report. Seems fishign the Peak and ebd tides is the ticket there. Waht are the directions tothe Green Cans once I leae the harbor. I am going to try it one of these days (sound liek a good place to get a Cabezon) but don't want to take a wrong turn to drift over Mavericks  :smt010

First Green Can is straight out of the harbor.  It is the south of jaws.  There is a high spot that is half way from the harbor to the first green can.  Even at high it is probably no less than 5 to 10 ft under the water.  You have to watch for sneaker waves here.  I always get my bow to the open ocean.  Can see what is happening.  If the waves start breaking here.  You best move is to go to the beach and move out to the green can and go north.  Second green can is to the north and just on the left side of Mavericks.  We do fish behind Mavericks when the wind is coming fromthe north and not south.

Half Moon Bay Reef goes from the Radar Station (Pillar Pt) out past the 1st green can to the 1st red can. You really have to watch what the breakers are doing on the reef.  I have had some days where I have been 2 to 3 miles out and have had to go to the 1 st green can to paddle in safely.  Probably put another 1 and half on the trip home.  The reef will be around 20-25ft.  Get off the reef and it will be 35 to 60ft.  At that high spot it becomes around 10 ft.  What I like about fishing here.  Is that I need to radio in the forces will be there the quickest.  Harbor Patrol is right there.  Also, I can always hear the fog horn at the harbor.
