Ok, so I have built a simple milk crate rod holder and I am trying to decide how I want to strap this thing down securely using the existing hardware on my Ride 135.. I really dont want to drill any holes. I do want the crate to be able to make it through a roll over if necessary.. I have already rerouted the bungee that comes on the tank well to make room for the crate.. and Im pretty sure using that flimsy cordage wont do much in the way of keeping this thing secured. My rod holders are zip-tied to the inside of the crate at the corners.. and are 14 inches tall. I also have a heavy duty rectangular crate and some extra pvc, so I may make a second crate as well.. Just need some ideas on how to fasten these things securely.. I was thinking about using some split rings and heavy rubber bungee straps? It just doesnt seem like the factory fasteners that hold the tank well bungee rope in place are up to the job of securing the crate.. I may be wrong..How sturdy are they? Ideas?

Rivet in some pad eyes where you want to secure it.
It's very easy to do.

I drilled small holes and ran some parachord thru the crate so the cord was out of the way and just attached them to the eyelets that the deck bungees looped thru.   I completely removed the bungees off the back...I'll post a pick of the crate mounted on the yak tomorrow.  Here's a pic of the crate with straps.   U might come up with some thing better.   I'm always tryin to make it more efficient.  I really like this setup tho...post a pic of urs when ur done...be interested to see what u come up with.

I like your crate, could you post a few more pics of it?  TY

Nice setup. That looks secure. I'm still looking for milk crate. Where did you get yours?

The single post that has stuck with me the longest after reading a thousand or more on this site, was one By Sean (Piscean).

Awesome crate! Live2Fish. I am still dialing mine in. Simpler is better. I am still getting my stuff caught when I try to retrieve it out of the box. Seperation is key. Btw I was out in Trinadad last week, with my crappy crate and still managed a few blacks to 16" and a 26" ling.. with my wife .. in a tandem.... Thanks for the inspiration

I will take pice of my crate in my Ride 135 for you and post soon. Very easy and is very secure. I can pick up my boat by the crate. The bungees in the tank are what hold the back of crate and are plenty strong. Of course the Ride is a heavy boat, so don't pick up by crate too often.
