Does anyone have a recent report on Tahoe? Will be fishing north side near Agate Bay. Any tips on tackle, depth, bait, etc. Any beta will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with the northside cause i never fished it or been, but good kokanee action on the south side right now in front of baldwin or pope beach over deep water. Fish 65 + down over 200ft or more of water with a seps side kick dodger or tahoe flashers. Troll either a spinner or small spoon in bright flourescent red, hooks tip with shoepeg corn and you should catch some fish. If its macks your after..look for schooling fish near the bottom in at least 150ft of water and drop  a spoon on them..good luck. Please report

My nephew hooked a nice rainbow off the Agate pier a bunch of years ago (end of July) with Powerbait, a big surprise to me.  The advice I got at that time to fish for the rainbows from a yak was to get out to just past where you can't see the bottom near some rocky structure and drift an inflated worm near the bottom.  Can also try the same over near Sand Harbor.  Charters also fish for Macs near Kings Beach in the summer.

If you're willing to jig for mackinaw:

1. get a good fishfinder
2. get a good GPS (Can be combined with #1)
3. go on google earth/lake topo maps and look for humps which rise at least 100ft off the bottom, usually approximately 150-200ft down.
4. mark those spots in your GPS
5. paddle out to those spots
6. Look for macks on top of the humps
7. Drop a 3oz jig down to bottom - Williamson style works and so does flat side P-line jigs.  I usually tip mine with lahontan redside shiners that i catch in a minnow trap - but don't know agate bay area well for minnow population - i assume some sort of bait strip would work as well.  I also go pretty heavy on the procure gel.
8. Crank about 5 cranks off bottom
9. Jig
10. Repeat step 9
11. Repeat step 10

.....
.....
????

12. Mackinaw
13.  Bring a descender for rats.

Does anyone make their own shoe peg corn? Must be cheaper than buying a small jar. Recipe?

Buy some canned shoepeg at your local safeway, if u can get procure oils from a bait shop or sporting goods store near you, look for bloody tuna, kokanee special, anise, krill, carp spit, mackerel, or garlic then just mix up any scents or combos you desire in ziplock sandwich bags and freeze until ready to use. In a pinch, corn with chopped garlic can get the job done. Take a look at the link of you want to see more detail
