I didn't catch them from my kayak, I live in the Lakeport Lagoons and caught them off of my backyard dock.  I've been using really stinky shrimp as bait.

First one was 17.2 Lbs.  Second was 18.4 Lbs.  I haven't been able to break the 20 Lb. barrier but it is just a matter of time.  I catch many 4-6 Lb. kitties but don't take pictures of them.

I don't think you would like to eat anything out of Clear Lake.

I ate a bunch of redears out of there last year.

I wouldn't eat them every day, but every so often couldn't hurt.

Why not catfish?

They eat shad just like the crappie (and lots of other stuff).

Still would be fun to sip homebrew on your dock while catching them....

I use to eat small catfish from the delta but Clear Lake fish taste like mud to me.  I got a nice little 3 pounder tonight, that might be ok.

Bring the beer, we can set on the dock and catch anything that happens by  :beer3

The fish taste like the lake smells in the summer.   :smt005 .    I suppose 35 years ago, when it was clear, maybe creatures taste different.  :smt009
