Guys,

I had a great time.   It was nice to meet Craigh and Craig, Brian and Scott.

Craig, I hope you were able to get your car alright.  Craigh, thanks for helping out so much, that was very nice.  I hope your friends in Modesto enjoyed that nice Ling.  Good to see you guys out there and I hope I see everyone out there again real soon.

Happy ending to Craig's car woes...

I had a Monday afternoon free of meetings so it was a sign to go on a road trip.  I didn't want Craig to spend any additional $$ since he had enough grief as it was.  However, I received some BH halibut he had caught from his previous trips...thanks Craig.  After he met me at work in Emeryville, we had a pleasant "not much traffic" drive to BH.

After dropping Craig off at his car I headed back home via Hwy 84.  Its about 20+ miles of rustic, windy country and mountain terrain and it dips into some forrested areas with some huge redwoods(?).  Anyway, I would have had much more fun with a sports car than my pick up truck.

I'm mentioning this because I envisoned this road as an alternative route to the east bay as opposed to going through HMB and the pumpkin maddness.  I suspect in the early morning there's no one to tail gate a yak bearing vehicle but on a weekend afternoon we might have to take a few turnouts to let the cafe racers and Porsche folks get by.  Bottom line, I would probably go by JTF's recommendations and head north on 1 and take the Bay Bridge.  Hwy 84 was pretty tiring to drive and wouldn't be fun with a fully loaded yak after a full day of fishing.  Scott, I suspect you could give us your impressions since you're a Hwy 84 regular...
My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.

SandMan - I mentioned in another thread that I've been driving this road for 30 years. So I'd be the guy with two kayaks on the top of his Fire Engine Red Nissan Frontier that you'd be pulling over for :)   Realistically, 84 really only makes sense when you know 92 is going to be uuuggly, or you just want to see a different bit of countryside.

Craig picked up his boat last night, so the saga should be complete.

Man...  was that a calm morning, or what?  Wind waves picked up in the afternoon, tho...  Nice pic Craig!

Thanks to all who pitched in to help me Saturday, and Craig, Scott and Gary for the invaluable transportation!

Dang, my car stinks now!

Loooooove your house, Scott!  Quite the paradisical oasis.  Thanks to Maggie for allowing me to interrupt her mommy duties checking in.

Craig,

I wish that was my place. Maggie and I are staying with my mom through November. Kind of a combined "look after my mom after my father passed away" and "my mom can help Maggie with the baby" deal. We move back to our home in the foothills after Thanksgiving.

And no sweat about Maggie, she was happy to know that us NCKA-ers look after our own.
