Here's a still shot of the cable poking through as I pedaled in.

dbradfield,    if you're planning on hitting the tourney at Albion on your way south, I have an extra loaner drive you can use.  Campsite C19.

@ Soma -- thanks for that very generous offer.  I'm not able to make it to Albion this year, even though I''m up in NorCal.  One of these years I will make it.  But thank you for such a generous offer.

I'm calling my friend in San Pedro this morning to overnight the idler cable (and nuts) to me here in Arcata.  Until then I'm considering removing the idler cable and still using the drive for nearshore and lagoon fishing unless someone advises me differently.  It seems to work just fine without it.

Worst case - for a few days I have a paddle kayak.   Mine is the smallest one, the mirage sport so paddling is pretty easy.

Thanks again, though -- very kind of you.

Dave

ps -- JUST ORDERED the part, they are going to overnight it here.  I hope I got the right one.   :smt005

Sorry you'll miss Albion.  Just arrived and thought I'd better correct my site number to D19.  (in case you have a change in plans)

YAY! -- The cable came today - the very next day and I ordered the CORRECT ONE.

It was relatively easy to put on with just two wrenches.   I think I'm ready to go -- Of course, it needs a checkout!  I'm not going to put it through something crazy the first few trips.

The part was relatively inexpensive -- $16 but the overnight shipping from LA -- about 3 times that.   :smt011 BUT  I had the part by 3:30 today and now it's together.   Time to get OTW!

I AM Happy!!!!     :smt044   :smt044   :smt044
